M.E. Nikolaev Republic Hospital No.1 \u2013 National Center of Medicine: A comprehensive, high-tech medical complex delivering advanced specialized care across Yakutia<\/strong><\/p>\n The National Center of Medicine comprises five specialized divisions\u2014the Consultative-Diagnostic, Clinical, Pediatric, Perinatal, and Cardiovascular Centers. Together, they encompass 45 clinical departments with an 862-bed capacity, 7 intensive care units, 24 operating rooms, and 12 outpatient clinics capable of handling 905 visits per shift.<\/p>\n Every year, more than 29,000 inpatients receive highly qualified treatment at the National Center of Medicine. Additionally, its outpatient departments handle over 400,000 visits, while more than 2 million advanced diagnostic tests and around 16,000 surgeries\u2014including 5,000 pediatric operations\u2014are performed, and approximately 3,000 deliveries are accommodated.<\/p>\n The work of the National Center of Medicine heavily influences the Republic’s key health indicators, including birth and death rates, maternal, infant, and perinatal mortality, and cardiovascular morbidity.<\/p>\n The National Center of Medicine serves as a clinical base for students of the NEFU Medical Institute and the Yakutsk Medical College.<\/p>\n A landmark milestone in the hospital\u2019s development was the opening of the Cardiovascular Center in 2022. This expansion significantly advanced the Center\u2019s capacity to deliver emergency, specialized, and high-tech care for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Today, the Center performs advanced endovascular and cardiac surgeries, utilizing cutting-edge treatments for cardiac arrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome, and acute stroke.<\/p>\n Telemedicine is also rapidly evolving, incorporating remote consultations, virtual patient rounds across regional hospitals, and digital ECG interpretation.<\/p>\n The National Center of Medicine consistently introduces next-generation diagnostic and treatment methods, including minimally invasive surgery, advanced endoscopy, liquid-based cytology, and peripheral nerve ultrasound, alongside pioneering approaches in hematology, pediatrics, perinatology, and ophthalmology.<\/p>\n Special emphasis is placed on high-tech surgery, organ transplantation, targeted therapy, rare and genetic disorder treatments, and specialized care for children and adolescents.<\/p>\n Driven by innovations in genomics and personalized medicine, and in collaboration with leading federal institutes, the Center has launched a whole-genome sequencing project. This breakthrough practice substantially improves diagnostic accuracy for rare and hereditary conditions, especially in patients with complex, previously undiagnosed cases.<\/p>\n In 2013, the Center implemented a quality management system, earning ISO 9001:2008 international certification. Continuing this commitment to excellence, in June 2022, the hospital successfully passed an audit by the National Quality Institute of Roszdravnadzor. As a result, it became the first medical institution in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to receive the national certificate for quality and safety in healthcare.<\/p>\n Building on this success, in 2023, the Ministry of Health of Yakutia and the National Quality Institute signed an agreement to establish a Quality and Safety Competence Center based at the hospital. The Competence Center coordinates and enhances quality management systems across healthcare organizations in Yakutia and other regions of the Russian Far East, utilizing both national guidelines and international best practices.<\/p>\n Most recently, in 2025, the National Center of Medicine successfully passed a recertification audit.
